Effects of Rehmannia Glutinosa Oligosaccharides on Skeletal Myoblasts in Vitro

    Background: There are some salient relations between the theory of congenital spirit (Xian Tian Zhi Jing) in Chinese tradition medicine (CTM) and the theory of stem cells in modern medicine. The category of kidney(shen) in CTM is somewhere in which stores the “Xian Tian Zhi Jing”. CTM materials (such as Rehmannia Glutinosa) with function of tonifying the “Shen”, replenishing “Qi” and enriching the”Xue” would effect to the physiological characteristic of stem cells.     Objective: To evaluate the effects of Rehmannia Glutinosa Oligosaccharides (RGOS) on skeletal myoblasts (SMs) in vitro.      Methods and results:  Crude extract RGOS was extracted by boiled water from Rehmannia G
